Almost non-stop in over 100 demonstrations during Yankee Dental Congress, Solea impressed those who sat down for a hands-on session. On Friday, Tony Edwards, editor-in-chief of Dr. Bicuspid, met with Convergent Dental CEO Mike Cataldo. Afterwards, Mr. Edwards joined Solea-user, Dr. Larry Kotlow, at one of our demo stations to try it himself. Tony was so fascinated with Solea we thought he might take one home!
Solea-user, Dr. David Fantarella, DMD, presented the laser system during the CE course, “All-Tissue Dental Laser for CAD/CAM Ready Preparations,” which was held four times throughout the show. To a room filled with intrigued dentists, Dr. Fantarella demonstrated the ability of Solea’s unique wavelength to ablate hard tissue without the need for a drill. As he etched, “Solea,” into a tomato, Dr. Fantarella showed the audience how precise the laser is on soft tissue as well.
On Saturday, Solea-users, Dr. Mark Mizner, DMD, and Dr. David Fantarella, DMD, conducted the highly anticipated live dentistry symposium, “High-Speed Laser Cavity Preparation.” Dr. Mizner began by describing how Solea helped him grow his already successful practice. Then, in front of a full house of intrigued–and perhaps skeptical–dentists, Dr. Fantarella and Dr. Mizner showed how quick and easy it can be to ablate hard tissue without the need for anesthesia. It was a thrill to watch both patients jump up from their chair and report that they felt absolutely no pain throughout the procedure. One would have been shocked to learn that, just minutes before, they had undergone a restorative dental procedure. Afterward, Dr. Fantarella explained the science behind Solea and why its 9.3 µm wavelength is the new laser standard for cutting both hard and soft tissue.
As first-time exhibitors, we couldn’t be more delighted with our success this year at Yankee Dental Congress. It was a wonderful experience to share our excitement about Solea with other members of the dental industry and to show attendees that there is a laser out there that really does deliver on the promise of laser dentistry.
We would like to thank the Yankee Dental Congress for the opportunity to show Solea and to thank all those who came to our booth or attended one of the Convergent Dental demonstrations. We’ll see you in Chicago for the 149th Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting!
