Staff Accountant


Position Summary:

Convergent Dental has launched Solea, a unique laser-based system that allows dentists to work without drills, needles, scalpels or pain for the majority of dental procedures. Convergent Dental is now one of the fastest growing businesses in the US. The Staff Accountant fulfills an integral transactional and reporting function in the Finance department. This position touches all aspects of accounting including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, month and year end closes, general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and sales support. We are looking for a hands-on, highly motivated and driven individual that has the ability to work independently. This position will report to the Accounting Manager in our Needham, MA office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the month-end close, including booking journal entries and preparing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare financial statement analyses which may include comparisons to forecasted results and trended results
  • Facilitate the recording and processing of customer orders
  • Invoice customers and/or distributors as goods are shipped or services are provided
  • Follow up with customers and distributors as needed to ensure payments are received on a timely basis
  • Assist with accounts payable operations
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Calculate sales commissions
  • Assist in the accounting and management of the company credit card program
  • Provide support and assistance during the year-end audit
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Participate with systems implementations and upgrades
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Key Skills:

  • BA/BS with a major in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • 2-4 years’ experience; medical device industry a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quickbooks and/or other accounting software
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented
  • Ability to maintain high level of accuracy in high volume environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
